FIRST FLOOR
THINKERS ROOM
The single bed sits under the window in this pretty little bedroom with a couple of desks, chair, and a built-in wardrobe so you can unpack and settle in. There’s also a trundle bed so the room can be made for single or twin occupancy (be sure to let us know in advance if you’d like twin).
THE LIBRARY
Soak up the exceptional sea view from the bay window in this 2nd sitting space which is casually furnished with chairs, occasional tables, and a sofa. As you’d expect from a library, shelves are stacked with books for you to browse, ranging from well-loved novels to a wealth of beautiful art books covering design, great paintings and famous artists.
THE ARTISTS ROOM AND EN-SUITE SHOWER
Wake to the sounds of the sea in the double bed which sits below a little porthole window. There’s storage in a chest of drawers, and a couple of chairs invite you to sit and ponder.
The en-suite has a shower-cubicle with a hand-held shower, a wash basin, WC, heated towel rail (towels are provided for all four guests), and natural light from the velux window.
OUTSIDE
Arguably one of the best locations in town, Art Cottage sits at 31A Crag Path, opposite the iconic South Lookout tower on the long shingle beach which stretches to Thorpeness. There’s a table and chairs in front of the holiday home so you can watch the sun rising over the sea whilst enjoying your morning coffee. The colourful high street with its independent shops, cafes, eateries, galleries and historic cinema is just behind the cottage so you can easily nip out for fresh bread and croissants, delicious ice creams, or the best fish and chips. There’s unrestricted roadside parking in front of the property and a car park a couple of meters away if needed.
Lovely and interesting house full of works of art, wonderful views over the sea, close to local coffee shops, restaurants and shops, friendly and helpful host, thoroughly recommend
The house is in an incredible location opposite the beach and is filled with interesting art and books.
Great location
We had a wonderful few days in the Art House despite patchy weather. Having a coffee in the sitting room watching the change of light on the sea as the rain came and went was breathtaking. I wished I were an artist - but I have some great photos. My friend from Canada loved the house and all the art work - please can we come again?
Great location, delightful and attentive host who is next door. Centrally situated, good restaurants in the High Street within 5 minutes walk. The property is rightly called the Art Cottage, most wall space being covered in interesting artwork, with plenty of interesting books available. Parking is very easy on Crag Path right outside the property, with the beach literally 5 yards away.
Good location. Couldn’t have had a better view of the sea.
Charming cottage on seafront reflecting tastes of artist owner. Living room/library on first floor delightful with fabulous views out to sea. Kitchen/diner on ground floor very basic and poorly equipped - ok for making hot drinks and light breakfast otherwise eat out in one of the lovely restaurants or cafes in Aldeburgh. Stairs steep and uncarpeted making it difficult for older or less mobile guests to access main bedroom on 2nd floor.
Wonderful couple of quiet and restorative days at Art Cottage which is an original and interesting property with great sea views. Great location as it is close to the High street which has some fantastic restaurants and pubs. It is also great for accessible walks. Parking was an added bonus. Would definitely recommend.
Stunning location on the beach front. We thoroughly enjoyed our spring break with inspirational works of art throughout the house. The highlight was the view of the waves breaking on the shoreline against a cloudless sky from the first floor library window, packed with a wonderful collection of art books.
