Charming cottage in peaceful location. Well equipped, however noted garden fencing was 'patchy' in places, not fully enclosed for dogs. Lovely local walks, shop, cafe & pubs. Bakery - a must visit!
We escaped the extreme UK heatwave to this cool, old quirky cottage in beautiful Orford. The perfect peaceful location for exploring the village, castle and quay and the local area. Comfy beds and a well equipped kitchen made for an enjoyable stay. Huge garden with a clothes airer for drying swim things was very handy and we used the bbq twice. We appreciated the ensuite loos in both upstairs double bedrooms. Overall the cottage is looking a little tired, in need of a paint refresh and the ground floor bathroom is also in need of an update.
Anchor cottage is tucked away in a quiet lane but in walking distance of both the village shops and the quay. The garden was the biggest surprise as it was much larger than we thought it would be and very pretty. But beware if you have dogs as there are some small gaps in the hedge. The house is old and really quirky with bags of character. The kitchen that looks out over the back garden is great but I’d say the bathroom facilities are adequate. We only used the two upstairs bedrooms, both of which are lovely. We had a lovely stay and really enjoyed the walking.
A lovely cottage in a great location! Lots of charm - do be aware that there are low door frames and a tricky staircase to deal with. The garden as well is fantastic, complete with a visiting fawn!
Very comfotable cottage, beautiful garden and surprisingly spacious. Very comy beds with en-suit loo, which is a bonus with ground bathroom, typical of an Orford cottage. Quiet part of but centrsl to everywhere.
Orford is a very beautiful village, and Anchor Cottage is very comfortable. The garden was very beautiful, and larger than I expected. We enjoyed the characterful bedrooms with the original beams and slightly wonky floors. One evening we enjoyed lighting a woodburning stove. The local countryside has so much to offer. I do hope to make a return visit one day.

A very comfortable, characterful and well-appointed cottage in a sleepy lane in beautiful Orford. The walk through fields to the footpath north of the quay is particularly picturesque, especially around sunset. The village shop also has a terrific range of local produce. Highly recommended all round.
