Lovely old, quirky cottage right in the heart of Lavenham. Some areas needed quite a bit of TLC eg the fridge/freezer door wouldn’t close because it needed defrosted. Under the sink was quite dirty. We had lovely weather and the garden was a sun trap. Unfortunately it was very messy and the table and chairs in a very poor state.

My friend and I loved the property and its location. It took quite a long time to warm up and we were left only enough logs for one evening. We were able to buy more from Heeks, but felt for the cost of the rent, there should have been enough for our stay…at least for the evenings. The heating worked but because the property had obviously not been used recently, it took a couple of days to reach a pleasant temperature. Luckily there was a big furry throw we could cuddle up under.

We absolutely loved our stay at Rose Cottage. The village of Lavenham feels like you’re stepped back into time into a fairytale, and the cottage is perfectly placed to explore the area. The cottage had lots of old world charm, yet had modern facilities. The fire place was a highlight (although more for atmospheric purposes). We had an issue with the heating on day 1, but I was impressed how quickly this was attended to and fixed. Overall, a wonderful stay and would recommend to young families or couples.

A charming little house in the centre of Lavenham. The sitting room is especially pleasant, with high ceilings and pleasing dimensions. The house contains plenty of the owners' things, which overall gives a nice atmosphere (rather than a sterile, serviced-apartment-like atmosphere). There is a nice garden. We were a little disappointed with some cleanliness issues. In particular the plates and bowls were almost all quite heavily stained with encrusted food. Several of the glasses and mugs were also in need of a clean. So we spent quite a bit of time washing up things before they could be used. We noticed that after we had used them and put them in the dishwasher with a pre-rinse, things came out clean. Some of the furniture was quite dusty and the table and chairs in the garden had a big pile of leaves underneath limiting its utility.
