Set in a secluded spot surrounded by fields, this luxury shepherd’s hut with en-suite shower room has been uniquely designed by the owners with meticulous attention to detail to provide an unforgettable stay.

The interior is incredibly well designed with a quality double and a drawer beneath so you can unpack and settle in; there’s a comfy bucket chair, a TV and a wood burning stove as well as an electric radiator to ensure you’re cosy whatever time of the year.

The space

Enjoy meals prepared at home on the two-ring induction hob, or in the microwave, and there’s a drop leaf table with a couple of directors chairs so you can eat inside if the weather’s poor. When you wake to the dawn chorus you can prepare your breakfast with coffee made with the Delonghi Dolce Gusto, a kettle, a toaster and a fridge with a freezer compartment to store your favourite foods in. The smart en-suite shower room has a wash basin, WC, a window and even a heated towel rail with towels waiting for you.

Outside you’ll find a BBQ and a choice of tables, benches and chairs so you can move around to catch the sun and enjoy the landscape. The night skies are also wonderful with the lack of light pollution, so cuddle up close to the fire pit and listen for the owls hooting. If you’re feeling adventurous and want to explore rural and coastal Suffolk, Lily Pad is in a great spot just over two miles from the picturesque seaside town of Aldeburgh and a short drive from the A12 with a maze of cycle routes and footpaths nearby.

"This was my second stay at Lilypad in Friston, this time in the sunshine. I cannot rate it highly enough, the hut is pristine. Loved having morning coffee in the summerhouse overlooking the pond. Thank you Pete for helping me with my car - you are 5* hosts!" - Caroline Ruben May 2025

We had a really lovely stay, perfect location where it’s situated close to Aldeburgh & Southwold too. The outdoor space was great especially the bbq & fire pit, with beautiful views. A hidden gem. The hosts were attentive & welcoming. Highly recommend & would definitely visit this air bnb again.

Beautiful location and views from the cabin, well stocked with everything we needed and the fire pit was a great bonus. We arrived in the dark so the lights around the pond, summer house and cabin were a lovely welcome! Friendly owners who made a point of checking in with us during our stay. Already eyeing up another visit 🤞

Absolutely delightful stay at this little gem of a property, credit to the owners who have created a wonderful place to get away and relax. The attention to detail really was superb, the pictures don’t do it justice, it’s even better when you are there. Everything you need is onsite, they provided wood for the wood burner and also for the fire pit, through to tea and coffee etc, instructions on how to use everything were clear & concise. The property was immaculate inside and out, great views and easy to find, Aldeburgh is about 5 mins drive, so an excellent location too, we loved this place so much we will be booking it again! We would both like to say thanks to the owners, Jan & Pete, it was fantastic.

Really beautiful little Shepherd's hut. Ideal if you want a base to explore Aldeburgh and it's surroundings. You have a lot of privacy and you can admire the local animals and landscape from the front door. We had a lovely time and will definitely look to come back in the future.

Lovely secluded setting, over looked only by birds at the feeders outside and some distant pigs. Ideal location to get to Snape Maltings and the glorious coast around Aldeburgh, Dunwich and Walberswick. Hosts Jan and Pete are friendly and very helpful. The log fire is great to relax to at travers of the day.

We had the time of our life. It’s peaceful and quiet and very close to Aldeburgh and the seaside. The place was so clean and cosy and had all the amenities you’d need for an escape from the busy city life. We felt bad leaving in the morning. Also the hosts are very nice and warm people. I recommend Lily Pad 100%👌👌👌
