OUTSIDE
Stable Cottage sits behind The Old Post Office in the heart of the quaint village of Friston with a warm and friendly pub called The Chequers selling local ales and delicious food just across the road, and a village green with a children’s playground and football pitch.
To clarify your accommodation on the photos; the booking is for the whole of the red brick cottage which is accessed by the path through the owners' neighbouring property. The paved garden to the left is exclusively for your enjoyment and the owner's will respect your privacy. There's parking for one vehicle on the drive and additional parking in the village.
Both the picturesque seaside town of Aldeburgh and the world-renowned Snape Maltings are just four miles away, Minsmere Nature Reserve, market towns of Framlingham and Orford with their historic castles, and many other attractions are within easy reach.
The cottage itself has a very pretty private paved garden with a table and chairs so you can enjoy meals al fresco, surrounded by various pots, shrubs and even a lemon tree.
Lovely little cottage. Felt right at home and it was the little things that made the difference.
Very clean house, well located for Southwold and Aldeburgh. There’s much more room upstairs than down - we thought the living room would be bigger. We had two cars with us and assumed parking nearby would be easy… but the handful of roads in the village are single track. We ended up asking the pub landlord if we could park on his land - he didn’t seem particularly overjoyed, but kindly let us. This is something to be aware of if bringing more than one car.
We had a great couple of nights. The cottage is lovely. The hosts were fantastic, very friendly, as were the dogs. Would recommend, and stay again for sure. Michael
A lovely appointed property in a quiet location just inland from coast but easily accessible to local attractions shops and walks. Perfect for a short break or longer stay to explore the local area
A beautiful cottage, very nicely renovated with everything we needed and more. Cosy, comfortable, in a pretty village, and very well positioned for Snape Maltings and Aldeburgh. The basket of goodies were a lovely addition too.
A lovely find in Friston. Great place, lovely host, restful and relaxing.
What a lovely, peaceful place to stay with the family! Cosy, beautifully laid out and well equipped accommodation with real character ; plenty of space for family of four with teenage children. The hosts couldn't have been more helpful...offering local recommendations and even coming to help us late one night when we had an issue. Pub only 2mins walk away and well stocked book shelves! Highly recommended.
A peaceful country village location very close to the coast so great for walks out and about. The cottage was very warm all the time and felt very welcoming, spotlessly clean too. And so nice to have a sprinkle of Christmas decorations, lights and a small Christmas tree which made us feel right at home. The owners were very friendly, helpful and respectful of our privacy and it was really nice to arrive to find milk in the fridge and some nice welcoming treats too. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
the Stable Cottage was cosy and spotlessly clean. We felt at home right away. The rooms were calm with bespoke home furnishings.

We spent a lovely weekend at Stable Cottage. I can honestly say it is one of the best homes we have stayed in. It was spotlessly clean , decorated and furnished to a very high standard and had very comfortable beds. The owners had thought of everything that could be needed and it really was home from home. Treats were provided for us and our two dogs which was a lovely touch. The garden was delightful, especially at night when it was lit up with fairy lights and lanterns. The house is situated within a stone’s throw of a pub which sells food, and just a short drive away from the local attractions such as Snape Maltings and Aldeburgh. I would highly recommend this cottage .
