Sea Holly Cottage, Aldeburgh

Entire home/flat
8 guests
4 bedrooms
6 beds
2 baths
The ideal holiday home with sea views on King Street between the high street and Crag Path. Interiors have a characterful calming and charming coastal feel spread over three floors with a well-equipped kitchen/breakfast room; two living rooms; a ground floor double with en-suite; 1st floor double and twin; top floor twin bedroom; and a family bathroom.

The space

A gate from King Street takes you into the alley leading to the front door. The alley is covered so ideal for pushchairs, bikes etc. You’re welcomed into this mid-terraced three-storey property with a sitting room to the left, and kitchen/breakfast room to the right and an inner hall giving access to the main bedroom with en-suite, utility room and cloakroom.

SITTING/MUSIC ROOM
Whilst you're likely to spend the majority of your time enjoying the sea view upstairs it's great to have a 2nd living space for a bit of quiet time with a good book, or perhaps a tune or two on the piano. The fireplace in this room is purely ornamental.

KITCHEN/BREAKFAST ROOM
Well-equipped for catering at home with units running against one wall housing two waist-height ovens and a microwave above, an electric hob, and a dishwasher. There’s a free-standing fridge with 3 shelves, 2 vegetable drawers in the fridge and 3 deep drawers in the freezer. The dining table is extendable and has six chairs.

MAIN BEDROOM WITH EN-SUITE SHOWER ROOM
Surprisingly peaceful for the heart of Aldeburgh, this bright bedroom has a king size bed between bedside drawers, a wardrobe, a chest of drawers, an ottoman and a chair. A door opens into a small inner courtyard.

EN-SUITE
The corner shower cubicle (with 6-inch step access) has a rain shower and there’s a WC, wash basin and natural light.

UTILITY ROOM
Fitted with a washing machine, sink and plenty of space for your groceries.

CLOAKROOM
Simply with a WC and wash basin.

FIRST FLOOR
Stairs (typically steep for a period cottage, with a hand rope to steady you) rise to the first-floor landing where you’ll find the living room and double bedroom to the right with a door to the 2nd staircase; and a corridor leading to the twin and bathroom at the back. The stairs, corridor, living room, double and loft bedrooms are carpeted. The twin has floorboards with rugs and the bathroom has linoleum flooring.

LIVING ROOM
Relax and enjoy the stunning seascape from the window seat in this lovely light living room. There are a couple of sofas positioned so you can watch the TV and enjoy the warmth from the electric fire, as well as a desk for those who need to do a spot of work or study.

DOUBLE ROOM
A cosy quiet room with a double bed, a chair and a couple of chests of drawers so you can unpack and settle in.

TWIN BEDROOM
Sitting towards the back of the cottage, this twin room is furnished with sturdy twin divan beds, a basket chair, a couple of bedside tables and a wardrobe for your clothes.

BATHROOM\
The back of this holiday home is fitted with a large bath, a shower cubicle with a rain shower, a stool, a wash basin, a WC, a heated towel rail and plenty of natural light.

LOFT BEDROOM
This is a fun bedroom for agile children (probably aged five and above) with a steep staircase dividing at the top with three stairs to the right and left and a door at the bottom of the stairs. There’s a single divan bed on either side with a couple of chairs, a bookcase with books for all ages to choose from, and a wonderful porthole window which is sure to inspire the storyteller! There’s also a fire escape to be used strictly for emergency purposes only.

OUTSIDE
Sea Holly Cottage is at number 27 King Street, a fantastic location for everything with the high street behind it and Crag Path running along the coast to the front. There's free parking along King Street and a small car park directly in front of the cottage with free parking between 6pm and 8am. For 30 minutes outside these hours you can offload and find unrestricted parking elsewhere, or pay for parking up to four hours. Please check restrictions as they may change.

Would 100% visit again. The house is lovely & such a great location! So spacious & comfortable. Went on a Bank Holiday weekend + we were able to find a free space to park for 2days on the neighbouring areas✨ Only thing that wasn’t so great was the poor signal in the house but also generally in the area. The wifi wasn’t consistent throughout the house but no way near a dealbreaker! Would advise visiting: The Golden Galleon, Cross Keys Aldeburgh & the pink ice cream shop!

Lovely place right on the beach. Property is bigger than it appears on the picture. We very much enjoyed our stay with two families. Piano and guitar at the property made for extra fun. Thank you for letting us stay

This was a return visit because we enjoyed our first. The property was very clean and in a location whi ch worked very well for the three generations of our family. The stairs are precarious and may not suit people with mobility issues but they are part of the character of this lovely home.

A gorgeous house - clean and spacious and lovely bathrooms with M & S apothecary items a bonus. Comfortable beds and great communal spaces. Close to the beach and sea and centre of village and attractions. We will be back.

Great location with a surprising (for Aldeburgh) amount of free parking nearby. The house is like a tardis with decent size bedrooms (all quiet & tucked away) & a well equipped kitchen. A stones throw from the sea & high street. Already booked for next year!

The house is fantastic. So beautifully located between the beach and the high street. It was perfect for finishing our day with a glass of fizz sitting on the sea wall looking out to sea with the house just across the road behind us. The sitting room also offers stunning views out to sea and we were sorry to say goodbye. We also ate in, making use of the well appointed kitchen with a wonderfully large table so we were all together for meal prep as well as enjoying the meal. We will definitely be back

We had a lovely stay in Sea Holly Cottage. Everything was perfect! The location of the house couldn't be better and we spent a lot of time sitting on the window seat of the lounge people watching! Even though the weather wasn't great we managed to walk from the property to Thorpness for lunch and a some time on the lake. Fab meal at The Lighthouse, which we would recommend and Fish and Chips of course. Aldeburgh is such a wonderful place; ice cream shops, bakeries, restaurants, gift shops, clothes shops.....everything you could ever need! The cottage itself was very comfortable. Stairs are VERY steep, so we did think that my elderly parents wouldn't have managed them (if they had been with us). Beds were very comfortable. There is no real outside space, which is fine as you are so near the beach. Kitchen seemed to have everything you would need but we didn't use it other than for a cuppa! If I were the owners I'd move the dining table into the front room as the kitchen is very dark!
