Avalon is a charming one-bedroom holiday home located in the popular seaside town of Aldeburgh, a stone's throw from the beautiful pebble beach and vibrant high street filled with a variety of cafes, restaurants, pubs and boutique shops.

This property does suffer from some historic wall damage from salt contained within the bricks, which causes the paint in certain areas to flake - whilst not sightly, it doesn't impact your stay.

The space

Avalon is the perfect spot for couples and singles alike to explore the beautiful heritage coastline where you can walk up the coast towards the picturesque village of Thorpeness, Dunwich Heath and Minsmere Nature Reserve or south towards the pretty fishing village of Orford.

This characterful cottage has a cosy living / dining room with a dining table and chairs, TV, speaker system, open fireplace and access out onto the rear patio with outdoor furniture. Leading on from the living room is a well-equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, fridge, oven, hob, butler's sink, microwave, toaster and kettle.

Upstairs (please note the stairs are very steep) there is a super comfortable double bedroom made up with Egyptian cotton linen and towels with a spacious built-in wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside tables. Across the landing is a family bathroom with a bath, walk-in shower, wash basin and WC.

This is a quaint fisherman’s cottage in Aldeburgh. Things to note - steep staircase. Low doors - not a problem but be aware! The small yard backs onto a pub beer garden - which inevitably is noisy up to 11.15pm when the pub closes.

A typical small cottage, well furnished, 50 yards from the sea front and very close to the famous Aldeburgh fish-and-chip shop. No parking on King Street itself, but there is a large public car-park (free overnight) quite close by. The property backs onto the garden of a pub, so one must be prepared for a fair amount of noise until 11.30 pm. The staircase is steep, as stated, and also winding.

Loved that the cottage was on a street sandwiched between the seafront and the main high street, so very convenient for everyday wandering. It’s quiet, except maybe for a few hours in the evening because it backs into a pub (this didn’t bother us). The property itself is quite dated, and had an air of general grubbiness, in a way that older properties often do, and a stale aroma on entering. A couple of housekeeping issues we raised with the company hosting, but the bedsheets and towels were fabulously clean

The cottage was perfect for our long weekend stay - close to the beach, shops pubs and restaurants. It was well equipped for all eventualities, but luckily the weather was fantastic so mostly outside. The little courtyard was a bonus. The cottage was spotless and the linen and towels pristine. We would definitely rent this property again. Many thanks
