Halloween at Thetford Forest
Head to Thetford Forest this October half-term for a truly spooktacular Halloween experience for the whole family. Follow the trail and see colourful lighting turn the forest into an eerie wonderland, where shadows move whenever you turn your back and chilling sounds come from the darkness. Watch out for giant cobwebs across the path, eyes glowing at you from the trees, a laser garden that will delight and disorient, and maybe even some lurking ghosts in the corner of your eye…
While this event is designed to unnerve, it’s fun and suitable for all ages. There will be delicious treats and drinks served on site, including scrumptious burgers and decadent hot chocolates. This is a ticketed event, running all day from 23 October to 1 November, perfect for a safe and spooky day trip or an immersive nighttime experience. Ticket prices vary depending on age, date, and time of day.

Rougham Pumpkins
It wouldn’t be Halloween without a pumpkin patch. At Rougham Estate, your family will have the chance to grab a wheelbarrow (including mini ones for tiny tots) and spend some time picking pumpkins, squashes or gourds. Dogs are not allowed in the main patch, but the estate sets up a very special doggy pumpkin patch for pooches to have a good sniff and play in (these pumpkins can’t be bought, for classic messy dog-related reasons).
Before or after picking, don’t forget to enjoy the beautiful Rougham Estate grounds, where there’s plenty of running and play space, sandpits, pedal tractors, and places to picnic. The pumpkin patch is beautifully set up, perfect for great autumnal photo opportunities, and open from 9am to 5pm.

Rougham Pumpkins by Torchlight
That’s right, Rougham Pumpkins isn’t just during the day. For two nights only, Rougham will host their popular Pumpkins by Torchlight event, the perfect spook-free Halloween experience for the whole family. The patch will stay open from 6pm to 9pm, so grab a torch, put on your wellies, and get ready for an exciting twist on your typical pumpkin-picking experience.

Wild Halloween at Lackford Lakes
This exciting Halloween event gives your family the chance to explore this beautiful nature reserve after dark! The team at Lackford Lakes will be hosting spooktacular nature-themed activities for the family, showcasing the night creatures who call the reserve home. Activities include: owl pellet dissection, tin can bug hotel making (bring your own can), red light torchlit bug hunting, bat detecting, animal skull handling, and a creature clay station. Anyone over 6 years of age will enjoy this safe and spooky nighttime event. Bring a torch, some waterproof shoes, warm layers, and a reusable cup if you’d like a takeaway drink for the trail.
Book your tickets to choose your starting time, and stay for as long as you’d like until the event closes at 7pm. An adult and child pairing pays £11 for a ticket, with each additional child ticket at £8 and each additional adult ticket at £3.

Halloween at Fenchanted
For a packed day of autumnal Halloween fun, add Fenchanted to your October half-term to-do list!
Pick a pumpkin, jump on the bouncy castles, hop on the tractor and trailer rides and shoot Halloween targets with water pistols, and pet friendly animals in the mini farm. Get creative at the Halloween crafts table, get your face painted, enjoy delicious seasonal snacks and treats from the food vendors, and explore the exciting and mythical 9-acre maize maze, too. Rest up in the comfy, cosy SEN areas, play a round of laser tag, ride ponies, try out the corn cannons, and finish the day on the fairground rides for a real thrill.
This ticketed event is a must for those looking for a full day of family fun.

PYO Pumpkins and Maize Maze at Ruffins Farm
We think you can never have enough pumpkins to carve. Ruffins Farm is hosting its yearly pumpkin patch and maize maze for a whimsical autumnal experience during October half-term. You’ll also find fun Halloween games for kids to play, food stalls selling delicious treats, and animals to visit and pet, including sheep and alpacas. This event is free to enter, and pumpkins picked will be priced per size.

Halloween events for teens and adults
We understand that some family events might not quite be up a teenager’s street. For the big kids looking for a more exciting scare this Halloween, consider bringing them along to these two bone-chilling experiences.
ScaresVille, the Haunted Village
Are you ready to be terrified in a seriously scary immersive experience? Visit Suffolk’s haunted village, ScaresVille, if you dare. This live-action event includes live actors, themed rooms and areas, and a walk around the village grounds. We can’t say more than that, as the event keeps its secrets tightly hidden… all you need to know is that this is an award-winning event and one of the most popular Halloween experiences in East Anglia! The team behind this popular event doesn’t recommend bringing anyone under the age of 14; however, they won’t stop you if you think you have some incredibly brave kids who would enjoy it. Just remember that the whole event is very dark, very realistic, and includes immersive live action. We personally think this is a treat suited to you and the big teens on your family trip. This event is ticketed, with pricing varying by date.

Haunted Maze Walk at Fenchanted
A fun family event by day, a chilling adventure by night; Fenchanted will transform for three nights only this October into a place of true terror. Enter the maize maze with only the dark sky overhead and face your fears at every corner and dead end. Live actors in costume await in the tall grass, ready to jump out and send your heart pounding. This event is not for the faint of heart! Refreshments will be available, including a beer tent for the adults.
