10 Best Fine Dining Restaurants in Suffolk 2026

Suffolk is very well known for its excellent food and drink, including haute cuisine designed to truly wow. The county boasts a wide range of fine dining options, including unique gastro pubs, elegant seafront spots, and even a restaurant set amongst its very own vineyard.

If you’re looking to take your taste buds on a luxury adventure while staying in Suffolk, here are 10 of our favourite eateries for fine dining in Suffolk for you to discover.

1. The Greyhound, Pettistree (Woodbridge)

The Greyhound Inn, a historic and cosy pub, is owned by former ad man Will Orrock and his wife, interior designer Cassidy Hughes. Alongside their head chef, Adam Spicer, with consultancy from wine buff George de Vos, they’ve brought to life their shared vision of running a rural inn that has become beloved across Suffolk.

In recent years, The Greyhound has featured in the Michelin Guide, ranked number 6 in The Good Food Guide’s Top 100 UK pubs 2025, and named Best Local Restaurant in Central & East of England by The Good Food Guide. Dining here means sampling some of the best food around.

The Greyhound’s menu is so dedicated to local and seasonal ingredients that it changes often, sometimes even day to day. This means that no matter when you dine there, you will be served something truly fresh and created with love for Suffolk’s produce. Enjoy Cromer crab crumpets, Kings Lynn brown shrimp, wild rabbit, and other delectable bites.

2. The Suffolk, Aldeburgh

One of Aldeburgh’s best-loved seafront restaurants, The Suffolk, celebrates the produce and surrounding beauty of the unspoilt East Coast. George Pell brought The Suffolk to life, born from his widely popular seafront escargot pop-up during the pandemic. George has spent well over a decade working in some of London’s most renowned members’ clubs and restaurants, including L’Escargot (where he remains a Partner).

Today, head chef Luke Truelove, chosen by George for his love of heavily incorporating local seafood into his menus, takes advantage of the incredible array of local producers. His dishes blend freshly caught seafood and beautiful seasonal ingredients to produce some of the best fine dining Suffolk has to offer. His specials change daily, often inspired by the local fish shed and their daily catches.

Dishes on the seafood-focused menu include roasted cod with braised chickpeas and squid, dressed crab with pickled cucumber, and, of course, escargots in garlic butter.

3. Salt Shore, Southwold

New to 2026, this new restaurant on the bank of the River Blythe is another seafood hot spot, as many Suffolk restaurants are (and why not, when we have immediate access to the best and freshest fish?). Head chef David Dyer, a self-professed Suffolk lad through and through, likes to keep things straightforward: meals made using the best produce, which must be treated with respect. While fish dominates the menu, there are also delicious meat and vegetarian options too.

Owners Jenny and Simon have curated the restaurant space to be light and bright, with plenty of glass and natural timber to really add to the dining atmosphere. They want the space to feel just as fresh as the food. On the extensive menu, you’ll find freshly landed sea bass, pork burgers with chorizo and chilli jam, twice-baked crab thermidor soufflé, and locally sourced oysters with ginger.

4. The Leaping Hare, Stanton

This fine dining restaurant is set in a charming 400-year-old barn, surrounded by its very own thriving vineyard. “Our vision is to tell the story between Suffolk farm, English vineyard, garden and plate.” Proudly recognised with a Michelin Bib Gourmand for over two decades now, The Leaping Hare is a real joy and England’s first vineyard restaurant.

The restaurant is well-known for its low food miles, with much of its produce coming from its own grounds or sourced as close to its location as possible from nearby farmers and growers. The team there actually manages the SSSI ancient woodlands on site, using the timber byproduct for heating and hot water for the business. The venison, rabbit, and pigeon on their menu all come from their own grounds, too.

Your dinner could include wild mushroom and blue cheese croquettes, pan-roasted Wyken venison fillets, or perhaps a lighter bite enjoyed at their outdoor cafe.

5. The Peacock Inn, Chelsworth

Settled amongst the picturesque village of Chelsworth, The Peacock Inn serves some of the most beautifully plated dishes and exquisite cocktails that’ll have your mouth watering. Think wild mushroom and egg yolk raviolo, cucumber and melon salad, pan-roasted halibut, and the creamiest espresso martini.

The Peacock Inn is proudly featured in the 2026 Michelin Guide and holds two AA Rosettes, ensuring your dining experience will be one you won’t soon forget.

6. Westleton Crown, Saxmundham

In the heart of Saxmundham, you’ll find the traditional pub The Westleton Crown. The chefs ensure the menu follows the seasons, with meals made using local, flavoursome ingredients sourced to create a varied menu for every time of day and for every type of occasion.

Their wine menu has been carefully selected to complement their menu, on which you’ll find ham hock terrine, miso mustard pork chops, creamy lemon courgette orzo, and smoked mackerel salad.

The Westleton Crown’s location offers Suffolk’s diverse landscapes at your fingertips. It’s found between the coast, the heath, and vast stretches of woodland, ensuring this beautiful county’s countryside is waiting for you once you’ve finished your meal in the pub’s warm and friendly atmosphere.

7. Maison Bleue, Bury St Edmunds

Maison Bleue is a Michelin Guide, French-modern fine dining restaurant with a very special menu, winning critical acclaim nationally. Brittany-born head chef-patron Pascal Canevet and his talented team brings his style and talent to each and every dish served in this Bury St Edmunds restaurant.

The location has a proven track record of consistently achieving the highest accolades, including The Craft Guild of Chefs: Restaurant Chef Award, TripAdvisor’s Best of the Best Award, Worldwide Luxury Restaurant Awards, Suffolk Restaurant of the Year Award, and gaining TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence, Travelers’ Choice and five-star rating year on year.

Available in this elegant establishment are king oyster mushroom and artichoke tartlets, smoked duck breast, monkfish tail with bacon crust, basil-marinated fillet hake, green apple mousse, and other exquisite dishes. It’s worth noting that Maison Bleue doesn’t offer a 2-course option, and instead has a fixed menu with choices, making it the perfect luxurious treat for a birthday, anniversary, or special occasion.

8. Pea Porridge, Bury St Edmunds

This intimate Michelin Star restaurant serves up the most delectable Moorish-inspired dishes, with owners Justin and Kirga Sharp approaching their restaurant’s menu and atmosphere with a carefree attitude. The space comprises three relaxed and rustic dining areas, which fit perfectly with the unassuming restaurant front nestled on a quiet residential street. Enjoy Moorish fish soup, spatchcock quail, Suffolk wagyu beef steaks, cauliflower shawarma, and other feasts.

The menu at Pea Porridge can change almost daily, and they’re big fans of ‘nose-to-tail’ dishes to ensure nothing is wasted. They like to keep their meals lively and exciting, which means plenty of bold flavours for you to experience. Because the restaurant is small and wildly popular, reserving a table in advance is essential.

9. Watson & Walpole, Framlingham

Broadcaster and restaurateur Ruth Watson is well-known for being no-nonsense when it comes to food. In her eyes, it’s just got to taste ruddy good, and have exceptional provenance. The menu at Italian fine dining restaurant Watson and Walpole, co-owned by Ruth, her husband David Watson, and chef Rob Walpole, changes at the start of every month, always packed with dishes prepared to perfection and made using local ingredients where possible.

When dining here, you can enjoy an array of delicious home-made pastas and expertly seasoned meat and veg. The menu includes pappardelle with beef shin ragù, wood-roasted lamb with candied carrots, ricotta-stuffed mezzelune, and, of course, tiramisu.

10. The Unruly Pig, Bromeswell

For a truly award-winning experience, stop by The Unruly Pig. Just some of their accolades include claiming the number 1 spot in the UK Top 50 Gastropubs Awards 2022, 2024, and 2025 (and number 2 for 2023 and 2026), an AA 3-Rosette, and number 28 in the National Restaurant Awards 2025 UK Top 100. Their Sunday roasts have also earned them places in various Best Sunday Roast lists, too!

At The Unruly Pig, you’ll find fresh, local, seasonal British food with an Italian influence. The menu is packed full of delicious dishes, including oysters, chicken and duck liver parfait, lemon sole, pansotti pasta, and Iberico pork presa.
