The summer holidays are almost here, and there is plenty on offer across Suffolk to keep the whole family entertained. Here is a list of 8 activities in Suffolk that are sure to make your family’s summer one to remember.
Africa Alive
Located just south of Lowestoft in Kessingland, Africa Alive is home to animals of the African savannah including lions, giraffes, rhinos, meerkats and many more. Spread across 100 acres, there’s plenty to see and do. Children will love taking a ride on the safari train, plus there’s an outdoor play area and indoor soft play area.
Suffolk Coast & Heaths
Explore the stunning landscape of the Suffolk Coast & Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with a visit to National Trust Dunwich Heath. Set off on foot or bicycle and explore the footpaths where you can discover some of Suffolk’s rare wildlife and birdlife. The heath comes alive with colour from July to September with patchworks of pink and purple heather. The perfect place to enjoy a summer picnic and dogs are welcome too!
Anglia Indoor Karting
In Ipswich, Anglia Indoor Karting is the ideal venue for a fun-filled family activity, with karting experiences for all ages. With two exciting full-size circuits, a track side café and a viewing area, all of the family can enjoy creating memories together. They also have a lazer maze.
Beccles Lido
Beccles Lido is next to the River Waveney in Puddingmoor, Beccles. It’s a traditional outdoor swimming pool which is heated. It includes a splash pool for babies and toddlers, a children’s pool, and the main large pool with a slide. There’s a café on site which serves reasonably priced meals, snacks and drinks.
Suffolk Coast Sailing
Enjoy Suffolk’s gorgeous rivers and coastlines under sail, aboard their classic British Moody yacht. Bring the family for a fabulous day on the water through Suffolk Coast Sailing. Their base at Shotley Marina offers almost instant access to the Orwell and Stour rivers.

Kentwell Hall
Kentwell Hall has so much to offer with its full calendar of events running through the summer including Historic recreations with over 150 customed Tudors. Visitors can churn butter, assist in meal preparations for the Gentry, practice quill writing or work at the Chandlers making candles.
Other events include children’s magic with witches, wizards, flying owls and face painting.
Clip n Climb
Reach new heights in the world’s largest Clip n Climb centre, boasting 46 unique climbing challenges. For those who want the ultimate adrenaline rush there’s also a vertical drop slide and ‘Leap of Faith’. For the little ones there’s a three tier soft play.
It’s perfectly positioned just off the A14 – easily accessible from Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds and Colchester.
Abbey Gardens
This 14-acre park in the heart of Bury St Edmunds if a great place to visit for free. You can wander around the abbey ruins, admire the floral displays, and there are other different areas including a water garden, a sensory garden and an aviary. A bowling green and children’s play area are among the other attractions.
