2 Beach Cottages, Thorpeness

Entire home/flat
2 guests
1 bedrooms
1 beds
2 baths
Originally a fisherman's home, this beautifully renovated cottage sits quietly in the heart of the seaside village of Thorpeness - ideal for a romantic break exploring the picturesque Suffolk Coast. Light streams into the spacious open plan living space with its' well-equipped kitchen, stylish living room, and sunny conservatory; and steep stairs take you to the bedroom with a king size bed and luxurious bathroom; with the added bonus of a shower room on the ground floor.

The space

Light streams into the house through the conservatory which leads to the cosy and smart living area with the kitchen beyond.
A massive L shaped sofa encourages you to relax and enjoy something on the TV, perhaps a DVD from a selection beneath, or choose a jigsaw or a book from the collection provided.
The smart modern kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals at home, with a table and chairs in the conservatory for you to dine at. Equipment includes an electric oven and four ring hob, an under counter fridge (3 shelves), an under counter freezer (3 drawers), a slimline dishwasher, toaster, microwave, and a kettle.
The utility cupboard with a washing machinge, a drying rack, and the boiler, is beside the shower room.

SHOWER ROOM
This chic shower room is fitted with both rain and hand-held shower heads and there’s a wash basin, WC, heated towel rail (towels will be provided), and natural light.

FIRST FLOOR
A little door in the living space opens onto very steep, narrow and turning painted stairs rising to the first floor, with a three grab handles to steady you. You may want to consider the stairs when you're packing as small/medium soft bags would be easier to manoeuver than a large one.
BEDROOM
The king size bed takes pride of place under the sky lights in this beautiful bedroom, flanked by bedside drawers and a couple of chairs. There’s a small TV and hooks and hangers on the wall for your clothes, a chest of drawers, and a cupboard for bags downstairs.

EN-SUITE BATHROOM
Soak up the peace and quiet of the cottage in the feature bath which sits beneath the skylight in this luxurious bathroom. The basin sits in an attractive unit with extra storage and there’s the essential WC, and a heated towel rail.

OUTSIDE
Beach Cottages are in a great position just a few steps away from all that Thorpeness has to offer – shingle beach, golf course, café, Meare, and excellent pub. An unmade road opposite The Kitchen takes you to the five-bar gate and side gate opening into the gravel drive where you can park one car. Please note that the neighbours do have pedestrian access. A large, raised lawn stretches to the front of the house with tables and chairs sitting on the gravelled area by the doors.

NOTES
This period mid-terraced cottage has typically steep stairs and low door frames which retain its character, however make it challenging for taller guests or those with a mobility issue.

The cottage was 100% perfect. It was very clean, comfortable and well equipped. Everything was a very short stroll away - the sea, the meare, the cafe and pub, and the bus stop to Aldeburgh if the 40 minute walk was too much! We would definitely return.

This is a really beautiful conversion of an old cottage It was really well equiped anf everything was in very good condition. The parking is a bit tight, but there are lots of on road parking spaces directly in front of the property.

lovely charming cottage.excellent position , the Kitchen opposite and the Dolphin pub around the corner are exceptional. the conservatory is a nice space to eat and chill. the lounge was comfortable. a really pleasant stay. it would be 5 stars if not for the uneven floor upstairs into the ensuite is a hidden hazardous. we would also suggest hand rails on the right hand side coming down the stairs.

As it clearly states in the details, the stairs are very steep and tight! It's probably best to leave most of your belongings downstairs as you're probably more likely to use the downstairs shower room. Kitchen has everything you'd need for a longer stay (we stayed 3 nights). The beach is only a 2 minute easy walk, and the meare is even closer. It is an almost totally flat walk to Aldeburgh where there's more choice of shops and places to eat - although The Kitchen is right opposite this cottage for an easy breakfast, and The Dolphin pub is only a short walk for lunch or dinner and both serve excellent food. We noticed this cottage is for sale so may not be part of Stay In Suffolk much longer, which is a shame.

Lovely, cozy cottage with comfortable bed and furniture. You are right to warn everyone about the steep stairs! Well equipped kitchen. Very well presented property and Thorpeness is a lovely location.

Lovely secluded little terraced cottage . Ideal for two, with sunny extension and comfy interior. Perfect spot for beach, mere, great cafe , golf club and walks. Stairs are tricky though.

Pristine cottage, beautifully decorated and very clean. The bed was very comfortable and we loved the crisp white linen. Little things like having a mirror near a plug socket for the hairdryer also pleased me! The kitchen had everything we needed and we enjoyed relaxing in the ‘sun trap’ garden outside. Great location just a minutes walk from the beach. The only thing that wasn’t ideal was a horrible sewer/drain smell in the ensuite that did not disappear even when the taps were run and windows were opened. There was no smell outside the cottage so it must be something within it. I didn’t want to take a whole star off for this as everything else was perfect hence 5 star review but thought it needed to be mentioned. Unfortunately as we were only there for 2 nights, Stay in Suffolk were unable to send anyone to investigate (possible blocked sewer pipe?) . Would 100% recommend this cottage as long as the smell has been sorted !

We took a risk and paid more than we we usually do because the location was perfect for us. It more than paid off for us. Such an easy place to stay, kitsch and clutter free, thoughtfully equiped kitchen, really comfy bed, so easy to just arrive and immediatly be at home. We were also wary of the fact it was a company let, not a direct owner, but again, we couln't fault the service and care they took, they really got it right. The area is so rich and diverse, from Sizwell to Aldeburgh, we felt sad our stay came to an end, so much more to see. Thank you all.
